Are The Best Anti Aging Products Really The Best?
If you’re a woman starting to experience the signs and symptoms of skin ageing you may have spent quite some time searching for the best anti aging products on the market.
You’ve probably seen all those convincing television advertisements and read the glossy magazine ads and you’re convinced that those anti aging creams just have to work well.
But if you’ve reached that stage in your search for the best anti aging products then you’ve missed one question that’s most important to ask before deciding how good those products are. You need to ask yourself how safe they are for you to use.
That’s because there’s so many chemical ingredients that are found in most of the big name skin care products you see on the shelves right now. One of those ingredients is called Propylene Glycol and I want to talk about Propylene Glycol today.
You might even have some Propylene Glycol in your cars radiator right now because it’s an essential ingredient in antifreeze. And the EPA tells us that anyone who works with Propylene Glycol needs to don protective gloves as well as goggles in case the Propylene Glycol comes in contact with their skin.
If you go to the Cosmetic Safety Database and search on Propylene Glycol you’ll find that it is listed as being an ingredient in 690 anti aging products as well as 118 facial treatments and 945 anti aging moisturizers, as well as many other personal products.
And the Cosmetic Safety Database links Propylene Glycol to cancer, developmental and reproductive toxicity, allergies and immunotoxicity, irritation to the skin and a whole host of other nasty health repercussions.
Maybe the glossy advertising tells you that those skin care products are the best anti aging products on the market, but if they happen to contain Propylene Glycol then I would avoid them like the plague, and the same applies to a wide range of other chemical ingredients.
They are found in our products because the FDA is not required to satisfy itself about the safety of any ingredients used in these products, and so the manufacturers put them there because these ingredients are very cheap, and they can get away with it.`The FDA does not have to satisfy itself that any ingredients used in anti aging products are safe for people to apply to their skin. The manufacturers use these chemical ingredients because they are cheap and because they can.
So if you’re beginning to see the start of wrinkles and skin sagging should you just avoid all anti aging products and leave those wrinkles to get worse? No that’s not necessary.
There are small companies that compete in this massive market but which have a demonstrated ethical commitment to making high quality products using ingredients that are known to be safe (and highly effective at aging skin care).
These companies, all very small and one in particular, make high quality products. But they use naturally occurring ingredients that are known to be extremely effective with demonstrated skin care properties, but these natural ingredients are highly expensive.
The obvious conclusion is that their anti aging skin care products are very expensive however this isn’t in fact the case. These companies choose to avoid television and magazine advertising and so can avoid factoring the cost of advertising into the price of their products, rendering them very price competitive.
The good news is that the best anti aging products are made by a company you’ve probably never heard of. But when you do you’ll be amazed at how good (and how safe) these products are.
