A Healthy Guide to Good Nutrition

Whether you are at your ideal weight or striving to reach your weight goal is it simply a matter of burning more calories than you take in? The answer, I suggest, is no!

Overall body health improvement as well as weight gain or loss must be factored in to the equation or you could be heading for problems. Correct nutrition can help to reduce the risk of a miriad of health-related problems, the most frightening of which are surely heart disease and cancer.

Proper nutrition, however, entails eating many different foods, monitoring your consumption of some food and beverage items, and counting calories. Good diets offer balanced nutrition that reduces cholesterol, blood pressure, and helps with weight control. Read the rest of this entry »

Is Alcohol a Cure for Insomnia

Something that many people do in order to help them sleep better at night is to take a stiff drink before going to bed.  For some of us, it is a matter of drinking a glass of wine but for others, it comes down to a mixed drink or perhaps even a shot or two of bourbon.

Although this may put us into an unconscious state rather easily, the fact of the matter is that you may be robbing yourself of sleep as a result of drinking this alcohol.

Why is that the case?

First of all, you need to understand that insomnia is caused by many different things but one of them is not a lack of alcohol.  If you really want to cure your Insomnia naturally, you need to find out what is at the root of the problem and treat it from there.

Drinking alcohol before bedtime in order to induce sleep is simply taking away the symptom of the Insomnia and not really treating the problem.  You’re putting yourself into a never-ending cycle of needing this alcohol before you go to bed and unfortunately, it is not doing the job that you are thinking it’s doing.

You have probably already recognized that alcohol is going to help you to fall asleep quickly.  What you may not realize, however, is that you are only affecting the first half of your sleep.  We sleep in cycles and although we may fall asleep because of the alcohol, we are disrupting the other cycles of our sleep without even knowing it.

As a matter of fact, it has been shown that alcohol which has been consumed within six hours of going to sleep can affect the amount of good sleep that you are getting negatively.  We may be unconscious but we are not getting the deep sleep that we need in order to wake rejuvenated.

Alcohol may also cause breathing problems in many individuals.  You have probably noticed that you tend to snore more whenever you drink alcohol.  This is actually because it is causing a problem with breathing and that can affect your sleep negatively as well.

If you really want to cure your Insomnia naturally, you need to stay away from alcohol before bed time.  Try taking something that is a bit more natural, such as melatonin supplements.  You will probably find that you are still able to fall asleep but your sleep will be much more restful.

Wouldn’t you love to be able to fall asleep simply, easily and naturally, without pills, potions or harmful medicine?

Now you can get the good night sleep you are craving for and you’ll get it with the most natural way ever. Learn how to know with the new book Natural Cures For Insomnia… READ MORE … CLICK TO ORDER

Natural Insomnia Cures-3 Foods That Help You to Sleep

Did you ever notice that after you eat certain types of foods you just naturally fall off to sleep?  Many of us may think that these types of foods are what is necessary for us to get a good nights sleep.  We may not be aware of the fact, however, that we are not falling asleep because we are becoming naturally tired but because of a chemical reaction that is taking place within our body.

Whenever we eat foods that are high on the glycemic index, they release a large amount of sugar into our bloodstream.  This causes our body to react with a large amount of insulin.  It is the insulin that makes us feel lethargic and fall asleep, not the food.

Not only is this bad because of the type of sleep that we are getting, it also puts weight on our body rather quickly which can also affect our sleep.  If you would like to be able to sleep better, there are some foods that you can eat which will help you to do so.

The first thing that you should make sure that you are eating is plenty of raw vegetables during the day, especially greens.  The easiest way for you to be able to do this is to drink a green smoothie every day.

Yes, it may sound a little bit disgusting but it is delicious and extremely nutritious.  Mix a large handful of greens together with two pieces of fruit, water and some ice.  Blend it until it is smooth and enjoy.

You should also make sure that you’re getting the right kind of fats on a daily basis.  Depriving yourself of these fats is not going to help you lose weight for the long term so don’t worry about eating them.

The best way for you to be able to get them is by eating coconuts and avocados.  This will help to even out your blood sugar through the day and to make you more relaxed in the evenings.

Finally, you should try drinking some warm milk before bedtime.  Warm milk contains tryptophan which triggers the body to release the natural sleep hormone, melatonin.  You should’ve listened to your grandmother years ago whenever she told you to drink more milk to get better sleep.  As it turns out, she knew what she was talking about all along.

Once you discover the benefits that a natural cure has, you’ll wonder why you spent so long unable to sleep.

If you are having trouble sleeping, you know how horrible not sleeping can be. It effects every aspect of your life and turns you into a walking-zombie. Natural Cures For Insomnia will put the color back in your cheeks and help you close your eyes and sleep night after night after night… READ MORE … CLICK HERE TO ORDER

Every child has a hobby of getting dirty

Playing around with friends under the heat of the sun or climbing trees. Whatever activity there is, it is always proper to maintain personal hygiene care for the sake of your child’s health. Make your child realize that being hygienic is as important as making friends. In addition, being clean can make him feel more positive about himself.

You need not to wear designer clothes just to look good. Even your home wear can make you already feel good just by being hygienic about yourself from top to toe. You, as a parent, have to explain things clearly to your child so that as early as possible, he can learn important tasks to stay hygienic.

Hair

Our bodies are surrounded by hair. No matter how thin or how thick it is, it’s still considered as hair. Hair follicles produce oil that keeps hair smooth. Your scalp has sweat glands and dead skin cells. If combined, sweat, oil and dead cells can turn your hair greasy and will look dirty unless you wash it regularly. To keep your child’s hair clean, you must:

shampoo regularly (choose a brand that wouldn’t harm your child’s hair and scalp)

massage the scalp well to help remove unwanted dead cells, grease, etc.

rinse well with clear, clean water

if your daughter has long hair, apply conditioner to make it smoother but otherwise, conditioners aren’t really necessary.

when combing, use a wide toothed comb especially for wet hair.

Clothes

Change your child’s clothes everyday. It is optional though, to change more than once a day. This only happens when your child sweats a lot after playing under the heat of the sun. Immediately change your child’s clothes to prevent the build-up of microorganisms that produces body odor.

Feet

Advice your child to wash his or her feet well while taking a bath or right before bedtime. Dry them thoroughly with clean sheets of towel. If you’re going swimming and will wash up in public areas, it is also good that you advice to wash his entire body together with his feet thoroughly. This will protect him from acquiring infections or other people’s skin problems that he came in contact with while swimming in the public pool.

Shoes

Spending a lot of time with your child’s feet is as important as your child’s shoes. A human’s feet is considered as the area of body where sweat glands have the largest accumulation. Once your child’s feet sweats, it goes to the shoes and stick to it, thus, cultivating bacteria that may cause foot diseases. As soon as your child comes home from school, let him take off his shoes. Teach him how to keep his shoes clean by washing, brushing or polishing it.

Perfume and deodorants

“Smell nice” products can be used to accentuate your child’s proper grooming. If your child is old enough to create body odor, it’s time to start buying him deodorants to keep his armpit from smelling likevinegar.

Even if he is still young, it is good that you teach him the different aspects on how to be more conscious about his body. Being clean can attract a lot of friends and people. Personal hygiene can definitely improve your child’s health and other people’s impression about him.

Why You Should Be Concerned About Medical Waste

The U.S. Government has found the 80% of watersheds contain low levels of at least one type of pharmaceutical chemical, with half of our streams containing seven or more.

Waste water treatment facilities can’t filter these chemicals out, so many drugs are being detected in drinking water.

The effects of most of these productes are unknown, but increased concentrations of antibiotics in drinking water have produced “super bugs” bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.

The risks of long-term exposure of these substances to humans and animals are unknown.

Previous information campaigns encouraged consumers to “flush” excess pharmaceuticals, but these sunstances are now ending up in our drinking water.

Unwanted medicine improperly disposed can be stolen and used, potentially resulting in death or illness.

Improper disposal of used sharps can cause injury, illness, and pollution.

Prescription Drugs

The new Federal prescrition drug dosposal guidelines are designed to reduce the diversion of prescription drugs, while also protection the environment. These gudielines urge Americans to:

Take unused, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs out of their original containers. Mix the prescription drugs with an undesirable sunstance, like used coffee grounds or kitty litter, and put them in impermeable, non-descript containers, such as empty cans or sealable bags, further ensuring that the drugs are not diverted or accidentally ingested by children or pets. Throw these containers in the trash.

Contact your local pharmacy to see if they have a take-back program in place for unused, inneeded, or expired prescription drugs.

Sharp

Wayne County encourages safe disposal of sharps. Sharps include syringes, needles, and lancets. YOu can help prevent injury, illness, and pollution by following some simple steps when you dispose of these sharp objects.

You should place needles, syringes, lancets, and other sharp objects in hard-plastic or metal container with a screw-on or tightly secured lid. Many containers found in the household, such as liquid laundry detergent bottles or metal coffee canes, will do, or you may purchase containers specifically designed for the disposal of medica waste sharps.

Do not put sharp objects in any container you plan to recycle or return to a store, and do not use glass or clear plastic containers.

To dispose, you may choose one of the following methods:

1.) Take to local Household Hazardous Waste Collection site in your area

2.) Reinforce the lid with heavy-duty tape, lable “Not Recyclable” and place container in you regular trash. This will prevent a trash hauler from mistakenly routing the cintainer for recycling.

3.) Contact a Medical Waste Disposal Service. A list is available in your area .

Finally, make sure that you keep all containers with sharp objects out of the reach of chidren and pets. It is also recommended that soiled banagers, disposable sheets, and medical gloves be placed in securely fastened plastic bags.
